Meet the Team
Senior Litigation Executive
Louis began his legal career in 2015 after graduating from Christ’s College Cambridge the preceding year. Louis’ work has covered personal injury, private client litigation and commercial litigation though at present he is primarily focused on landlord & tenant litigation, with a particular emphasis on assisting tenants living in homes that have either fallen in to disrepair or are not fit for human habitation within the current legislative framework. Louis also has extensive experience acting for tenant’s seeking to bring prosecutions against their landlord under environmental health legislation and welcomes all manner of instructions from tenants in need of assistance.
A Qualified Spanish Lawyer, Eva Duran completed an LLM in International Law, Trade and Transport at London Metropolitan University.
She has gained experience through her work in English law firms in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Bankruptcy, International Transport Law, Commercial Arbitration, Personal Injury and Housing Disrepair. She currently assists Arthur Barnes in Housing Disrepair matters.
Eva is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
Having graduated from University of Plymouth with a LLB (Hons) degree, Sarina Mahmi is a high achieving academic who has excelled working as a Legal PR executive as well as having exposure to working with the Magistrates’ Court.
Sarina is a legal assistant specialising in Housing Disrepair matters at Barnes Solicitors. Outside of work, Sarina volunteers for the Middlesex Blind Association and gives her time regularly to help people with sight loss.
James is a legal assistant working in Housing Disrepair matters.
James graduated with a Masters in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London in 2016. Since then he has worked in the housing disrepair sector for more than two years.
When not at work, James enjoys eating out at interesting restaurants. He is a keen sports fan and an avid skier.
Stephen is delighted to have been given the opportunity of joining Barnes Solicitors LLP during an exciting period of its development.
Admitted as a Solicitor in 1974, Stephen has been a well-known commentator on legal issues, regularly appearing on the major TV channels, writing columns in the legal press and contributing to international conferences. He has trained the legal profession on litigation topics in the context of Continuing Professional Development.
For many years a leading White-Collar Crime lawyer, Stephen has recently contributed to the leading text on Housing Disrepair (‘Housing Conditions: tenants' rights’) and his expertise is now recognised in the field of prosecutions under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. He maintains his practice in Criminal Defence work, Regulatory issues and related litigation in Fraud, Financial Services, Health & Safety, Professional, Sports’ Regulation, Tax appeals, Proceeds of Crime Act and Money seizures, but also relishes new challenges.
Before joining Barnes Solicitors, Stephen was a consultant with Clarke Barnes solicitors and previously was a founder and Chairman of Saunders Law Limited.
